Scoliosis (Children)
Scoliosis (Children) is a condition in which the spine curves either to the right or left. There are many causes of scoliosis, many are idiopathic, meaning that there is no known cause. Genetics and ill-fitting shoes especially ones that are too tight play a role in its development.
Scoliosis inĀ children is most commonly triggered during a growth spurt, typically between the ages of 9 to 15 years old. Additionally, girls are more predisposed to developing scoliosis than boys and often have more severe curvature.
It may also be caused by a short leg, or leg length discrepancy (LLD). If untreated, scoliosis can lead to lower back pain, arthritis, postural problems, and asymmetrical gait.
