Black or Blue Toenails

Toenails that has become black or blue is usually the result of a direct form of trauma, such as dropping a heavy object on the toe, or repetitive stress, such as running. In simple terms, a black or blue nail is one that has been bruised.

The hallux (big toe) is most commonly affected and may be extremely painful depending on severity.
