Thickened Toenails

Thickened toenails are a common complaint. These are toenails in which the nail itself becomes thicker and brittle, and may even start to crumble.

There are several causes of this condition, the most common of which is a fungal infection. Other causes include direct trauma, tight shoes that press on the toes, psoriasis, or diabetes.
